Hong Kong's ICAC starts campaign for clean elections

The election campaign for Hong Kong's next chief executive kicks off with an electronic reminder from the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) for candidates and their supporters to adhere with the law.
This is in addition to the information booklet on the Elections (Corrupt & Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (Corrupt & Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (ECICO) the agency has produced for distribution to candidates, election helpers and election committee members.
ICAC said both would serve as a guide on the conduct of legal election activities.
The information booklet and electronic reminder answers the most common questions on how the law applies in different situations related to the election campaign, including conduct of meetings, advertisements and donations.
"For example, in arranging publicity activities for candidates such as forums, supporters are advised to invite all candidates to provide the latter with an equal opportunity to promote their election platforms," said ICAC Deputy Program Coordinator (Elections) May Fan Ching-yin in a news release in the website. "If only particular candidates are invited to attend any function that may incur election expenses, the organizers must have the prior written authorization from such candidates as their election expense agents," she added.
Members of the public may access the information booklet and the reminder from the "Support Clean CE Election" dedicated webpage.
