Kenya's judiciary has implemented an elaborate electronic management system that will allow judges to preside over cases via videoconference and litigants to monitor progress of cases by sending text messages.
The judiciary has been dogged by allegations of corruption and inefficiency, in which cases have dragged on for more than 10 years, leading to expensive litigation. The judges blamed the slow pace on the manual document management system and the need to move to different parts of the country to preside over cases.
