SEOUL -- Korea’s success stories in many industries, including music, television, movie production and motoring, would be made available on video lectures and distributed to universities around the globe via the Internet.
Korean government portal Korea.net said the project called the “Global e-School” intends to broaden Korean studies to include the Korean wave, politics, economy and IT industry, and are produced by the Korea Foundation.
"Three videos will be published by March to teach university students in Southeast Asia about the “Korean Wave and Pop Culture,” “Korea’s Automobile Industry and its Developments” and “Korea’s Globalization,” the report said.
The report added that for a start, the University of Indonesia has opened a series of internet lectures on Korean Studies that will incorporate the videos.
Kim Byung-Kook, President of the Korea Foundation, was quoted in the website as saying that there is a lot of need to teach Korean studies to overseas students but there aren’t many Korean professors who can go overseas and teach.
"Through this Internet based curriculum, we will be able to solve this problem and teach students about Korea and Korean culture,” he said.
