Melbourne Airport has launched a new iPhone app to make travel easier for the technically savvy traveller.

“Our new iPhone app will help keep our passengers updated on flight information as they journey through our airport as well as provide valuable information to those welcoming or saying goodbye to family and friends,” Melbourne Airport’s Executive General Manager Simon Gandy said in a news release.

The app provides real-time flight information, maps of the terminal, taxi and car park calculator and other functionalities that travelers are already familiar with and available in the Melbourne Airport website. Also helpful are alerts regarding flight status and changes.

"“It’s crucial that we keep up to date with what our passengers think as they pass through Melbourne Airport, so in addition to our current customer surveys, we’ve also included a survey function in the app.  And passengers may receive a reward for simply completing a short questionnaire and enabling us to better meet their needs in the future," Gandy added.

Launched in time for the summer travel season, the app is complemented by volunteers answering queries, providing directions and other support to passengers, especially during the peak of the summer travel season.
