A New Zealand government agency has tapped Datacraft to optimize its Wide Area Network (WAN) to support centralized data management and accelerate application access.

The government department now benefits from a centralized, secure network platform connecting 44 branch offices to its Wellington data center, resulting in higher efficiency, security and performance.

Fast, efficient interbranch collaboration and file transfers were core concerns for the agency, which services all of New Zealand’s regions. The agency’s objective was to streamline procedures by converging data from its remote branch offices into one location at the Wellington data center and save costs by reducing its spend on applications. A switch-over to IP telephony was also a requirement, along with increased visibility throughout the network so the performance of applications such as VoIP could be monitored and improved if necessary.

Datacraft was appointed to integrate, design, build and install the new WAN optimization solution based on Packeteer technology, the designated application platform. The customized solution accelerates application performance and data transfer over the WAN while overcoming bandwidth and geographical limitations.
