ST Electronics has won a contract from the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore to create and operate the first Virtual World for the inaugural Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. This will be the first time a Virtual World will be used for an Olympic event.
Virtual World will enable anyone from anywhere in the world to register and play. Highly interactive and engaging in nature, Virtual World will encourage global interaction through online individual and team activities that are related to sports, culture and education.
"We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to build and operate the first Virtual World for the inaugural Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. Virtual World marks ST Electronics' continuing foray into the forefront of new media solutions. .We are excited at the possibility that this system will be experienced by a wide spectrum of users and youths both within the local community and across the globe," said Seah Moon Ming, President of ST Electronics.
