HIPAA compliance
Most standards in the United States and other Western countries related to medical content can be adjusted to suit medical environments in Asia, though some modifications may be required. Compliance to country-specific rules and regulations might even favor local players, says Pawel Suwinski, Principal Consultant at Frost & Sullivan.
In a move to reduce costs, the National Health Service (NHS) organizations began moving from leased lines to N3, a national DSL-based IP network, providing redundancy to 18,000 NHS sites. With confidential patient information being transported over public and shared Internet connections the NHS sought to implement a new solution to protect user data and meet industry compliance requirements.
