The floods in Thailand in 2011 badly disrupted supplies in hard disk drives (HDD) and caused the local PC market in the fourth quarter to plunge 40 percent sequentially and 14 percent year-on-year (YoY).
Despite challenges from disk drives, media tablets, and the global economy, the PC market in the Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) grew 11 percent for the full year 2011 to reach 119 million units, preliminary data from IDC showed.
