Storage-as-a-Service

Symantec Corp. recently announced the findings of its 2011 Virtualization and Evolution to the Cloud Survey, which uncovered disparities between expectations and reality as enterprises deploy solutions such as server, client, and storage virtualization, Storage-as-a-Service, and hybrid/private cloud technologies.

With for most emerging technologies, the hype is bigger than the reality. A welcome exception is cloud storage, which is enabling many organizations to achieve major economies of scale and greater control of growing data volumes. A Commvault user survey of 535 executives reveals that more than half are looking at cloud storage.
